Box Score
The Men's Soccer Team lost to the Thomas University Seahawks in the finals of The Sun Conference Tournament Championship. The Bees made a good run by eliminating Northwood and Embry-Riddle in the first two rounds of the championship play. Tonight they met the #2 seeded Seahawks in the finals and were downed by a score of 3-6.
Three first period goals by Thomas put the Bees in a position of having to play catch-up in the second half of play. SCAD's lone goal in the period was by Jose Izurieta, who had briefly given the Bees a 1-0 early lead.
After intermission the Bees came out with solid defensive play and when
Jordan Trinci-Lyne, on an assist from Izurieta, brought the Bees to within 1 early into the second half of play, the Bees seemed to have a building momentum. But the Seahawks responded with a counter of their own. In the next 11 minutes Thomas was able to score three straight goals of their own to put the match out of reach at 6-2.
SCAD's final score came late in the period as
Torin Melville gave a beautiful feed to Trinci-Lyne, who headed the ball into the net for his second goal of the match. But alas, it was not enough. The loss at 3-6 brought an end to the Bees' 2013 season. They finished the year at 10-7.
Overall it was a good year for the men as newcomers
Torin Melville,
Jordan Chambers,
Naim El-Harrati,
Tom Rouine,
Sergi Sauras,
Alex Jamroz,
Inaki Uriz, and
Ali Bassir gave Bees' fans a look at the future of SCAD soccer. And the future looks bright. The 2014 season has the prospects of being a banner season for the men.
