Box Score
The story is one that has been told before. The Bees played a tough defense, but could not manage any productive offense to pose a threat to the Royals of Warner University. Who would have known that when the Royals scored their first goal 30 seconds into the match that it would prove to be the game winning goal. The Bees could not manage a score although they had a couple of opportunities in the first half.
The second half was a story of extreme effort that came from the Bees through a necessity. Because of penalties the Bees had to play a man-down for the entire second half. This left SCAD with an uphill battle the rest of the way. A total of 7 Yellow Cards were given to both teams as they battled to get an advantage. But when one of the Bees' players got his second Yellow Card it meant that SCAD had to finish the match with one less player. This gave an extreme advantage to the Royals who took their time in moving up and down the pitch. Time just ran out for the Bees. It was not because of a lack of effort because the SCAD men hustled and scrapped, but could the just could not penetrate a one-man-up defense.
The loss for the Bees was their second of the season (4-2) and their first conference loss (2-1). There is still time to regroup, but the Bees need to notch a few wins over the next seven matches when they do battle with conference opponents.
Next up for the Bees is the first of four away matches when they travel to Babson, Florida to take on Webber International. The SCAD men do not return home to the SCAD Sports Complex again until October 20
th when Johnson & Wales comes to town for a match on Sunday at 12 pm.
