When the teams last met, in a regular season match on October 5 of last year in Savannah, Ga., St. Thomas brought home a victory, riding a three-goal performance from forward Andres Rico, then a junior. Since then SCAD Savannah has received votes in the preseason Top 25 and has since been ranked or received votes in two of the five regular-season polls. The Bees have suffered losses to receiving votes Georgia Gwinnett and to unranked conference opponents Warner (Fla.) and Webber International (Fla.).

St. Thomas, the three-time defending The Sun Conference regular-season champion, has struggled in 2013 after beginning the year ranked No. 24 in the preseason Top 25. The Bobcats also received votes in the first regular-season poll, following their lone win of the season against Northwood (Fla.), but have not been mentioned since.

This season, the Bees are attempting to make its first national championship appearance in program history. St. Thomas is trying to make it back to the national championship tournament for the second time in school history. The Bobcats made the 2010 national championship tournament, but fell to former member Maine-Fort Kent in the opening round.

Sophomore forward Jordan Trinci-Lyne from Cheshire, England, leads SCAD with six goals and three assists on the season. Freshman midfielders Naim El-Harrati from Wigan Billinge, England, and Torin Melville from Savannah, Ga., are tied for second on the team in goals with two each. Senior forward John McAleenen from Rostrevor, Northern Ireland, and senior defenseman Theo Angus from Slough, England, are tied for second on the team in assists with two each. Trinci-Lyne ranks among the NAIA leaders in shots on goal per game (27th, 2.29), points per game (29th, 2.14) and goals per game (41st, .86).

St. Thomas has scored just six goals on the season, with a different Bobcats player finding the back of the net each time. Junior forwards Tony Mamodaly from Mannheim, Germany, Olando Lawrence from Kingston, Jamaica, and Carlos Cruz from San Pedro Sula, Honduras; senior midfielders Ignacio Mateos from Valladolid, Spain, and Junior Montano from Coral Springs, Fla.; and junior midfielder Francisco Amorena from Buenos Aires, Argentina, have each scored for St. Thomas. Three different Bobcats have also recorded an assist on the season: Mateos, Cruz and junior forward Marcelo Norton from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Bobcats goaltenders junior Adam Green from Plymouth, England, and freshman Deljan Bregassi from Sampdoria, Italy, have allowed a combined 2.17 goals per game, good for 47th nationally.

The Bees are 4-3-0 on the year, including a 1-1-0 mark in away contests and a 2-2-0 record against The Sun Conference opponents. St. Thomas is 1-5-0 on the season, including a 1-3-0 record at home and a 0-3-0 mark in The Sun Conference play.
