Box Score The men squared off against a good William Carey team and showed a well-balanced offensive attack as ten different Bees participated in attacking the Crusaders goal. Of the 12 shots taken by the Bees three found their mark. The scorers for SCAD were William Oswin, Nial Doherty, and
Jordan Trinci-Lyne, who each were able to put balls into the net in the 2
nd period of play.
The game was very well-played as each team felt the other out in the first period with the Crusaders testing SCAD's sophomore goalie,
Josh Brown, to the tune of five shots. But no goals were scored as Brown accumulated five saves on the day.
It was not until the 50
th minute of the match that Doherty was able to draw first blood thanks to an assist by
Alex Jamroz. SCAD pushed the lead to 2-0 with 9:29 left on the clock when Trinci-Lyne found the corner of the net. William Carey finally found the goal on its 13
th shot at the 80
th minute of the match to cut the lead in half 2-1. The Crusaders were only allowed one more shot on goal, but Brown was able to save it to deny them their last scoring threat. But if that was not disappointing to the Crusaders, a final SCAD goal by Oswin in the last 7 seconds of the game was salt in their wound.
The final score of 3-1 brought SCAD its first win in the 2012 season. But the way the Bees played it gave hope for many more to come. On Sunday the Bees will face a very strong Georgia Gwinnett team. The Grizzlies were winners over a young St. Francis team in the second match of the day in the Bees' Tournament. The Grizzlies pounded the Fighting Saints' goal and won the match 8-0. Sunday's game with Gwinnett should prove to be a good one.
Come out and support your Bees. Game time is at 1 p.m.
