Men’s Soccer Loses 2-0 Late to UA Montgomery

9/2/2012 5:37:00 PM

Box Score
Though Auburn Montgomery outshot the Bees 17-3, Coach Tom Melville felt that his team carried the game to the Warhawks.   Melville commented, “For most of the game we dominated the possession and frustrated a very good team.”  The game was closely played in the sense that no team could penetrate the box of the other team.  It was not until the second half at the 67:21 mark of the game that the Warhawks finally scored on a rebound by freshman, Agust Arnarson.   Fifteen minutes later, UAM was able to score its final goal by senior, Angel Gonzalez.

“It was very unfortunate to have lost this game, especially so late in the match,” said Melville.  “We knew that we had to improve on our possession and set pieces and I felt that we did exactly that.”  Losing in shutout fashion does not begin to tell the story of the game.  “We came very close to scoring on several occasions.    The players need to take comfort in the first seventy minutes of this game.”

SCAD's goalie, Josh Brown, played a good game.   Of the 17 Warhawks shots, five were on goal and Brown saved three of them.   The Bees return home to play its first home season game against visiting William Carey University on 9/8 at the SCAD Sports Complex.  The Bees hope to improve on its 0-2 start of 2012.
