SCAD 0 - Univ. Of Mobile 5
Once again the Bees got off to a slow start with an uncharacteristic
mistake by
Ryan Middleton in the first minute. His errant pass fell
straight to a UAM forward (Deshorn Brown) who beat the freshman Keeper,
Josh Brown, for the opening score. The Bees seem to regroup and played
some of the best attacking soccer to date, in the remainder of the first
half. Several goal scoring opportunities were narrowly missed, frustrating
the Bees. UAM counter attacked twice to score in the 29th and 30th minute.
Despite appearing to be playing well and threatening the Mobile goal, the
Bees found themselves 0-3 behind at the half.
Mobile stepped things up a notch in the second half and certainly looked
the better team. SCAD freshman,
Taylor Katsanis, took a deep free kick
only to be intercepted by the UAM forward. The resulting turnover lead to
a counter attack which resulted in a penalty when Stephen Dowling brought
the striker down in the box. AUM's Marc Joseph slotted the PK by Brown to
make it a surprising 0-4. The final tally came in the 88th minute when
Chris Dillon surprised everyone with a cross that caught the wind and
dipped over Browns outstretched arms. UAM's #2 National ranking seems well
deserved as they were obviously the better team.
