The SCAD Bees played their last regular season game against Thomas University on November 1. This game was a rescheduled game from a rainout on Oct. 11.
The first half was fairly even with Thomas, who will be joining the Sun Conference next season, holding an advantage in shots on goal at 5 to 3. SCAD's
Ryan Middleton came very close to scoring the game's first goal as a result of a nice passing combination and eventual lay-off by
Karl Sjostrom. Middleton's strike, however, was sliced just high of the net. The makeshift defense for the Bees held up well and denied playing space for Thomas during most of the first half. Despite sitting out three starters, due to injury, the Bees defensive unit looked very solid as the first half came to an end with the score tied at 0-0.
It was not until half way through the second half that the Bees appeared to struggle. Player communication suffered resulting in a few Thomas shots. In the 72nd minute, Thomas' Nick Gilpin found the net from the 20 yard mark, beating Roos Faulds at the SCAD goal. The goal seemed to animate the Bees for a few minutes, but they just could not capitalize on their energy.
The Bees will now regroup in preparation for the Sun Conference Quarter final game at Northwood University this Saturday, November 5.
