HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The SCAD Savannah men's soccer team rewrote the record book as the Bees blanked Johnson and Wales (Fla.) University 13-0 Saturday (Sept. 4) evening at Dowdy Park.
The Bees improved to 5-0-0 overall and to 2-0-0 in The Sun Conference while the Wildcats fell to 0-3-0 and to 0-1-0. SCAD returns to action Thursday (Sept. 9) with a 7 p.m. league contest against Ave Maria University at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
SCAD set a team record for most goals in a match with 13, surpassing the former mark of 12 set against Faulkner University in 2004. The Bees also tied the team record for assists in a match with 11, also set against Faulkner.
Ellert Hreinsson, who leads the team with nine goals, tied the record for goals (four) and points (nine) in a match. Norman Vernazza also tied a record with three assists in a match.
A total of 11 players for the Bees tallied at least one point against the Wildcats.
Jean Morana recorded a hat trick with three goals while
Steve Dowling and
Karl Sjostrom had two each.
Theo Angus and
Roscoe Peacock also each scored a goal.
Pato Torello had two assists for the Bees while Angus, Dowling,
Brinton Nute,
Taron Jordon and
Richard Langthorne each had one.
Goalkeeper
Ross Faulds recorded his third shutout of the season.
