WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Ellert Hreinsson's penalty kick was the difference as the SCAD Savannah men's soccer team opened up The Sun Conference action with a 1-0 victory over Northwood (Fla.) University Thursday (Sept. 2) afternoon at Arrigo Field.

The Bees improved to 4-0-0 overall and to 1-0-0 in the league while the Seahawks fell to 3-1-0 and 0-1-0. SCAD returns to action Saturday (Sept. 4) with a 4 p.m. TSC match against Johnson and Wales (Fla.) University in North Miami, Fla.

The only score of the match came in the ninth minute when Hreinsson got fouled in the box by Ali Adams, resulting in a penalty kick that Hreinsson converted for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. It was Hreinsson's 37th career goal moving him into first place on the SCAD all-time goal scoring list. It was the Bees' lone shot on goal in the match.

SCAD goalkeeper Ross Faulds recorded his second shutout of the season as he stopped three Northwood shots. The Bees played the final 51 minutes a man down after a SCAD player was sent off with a red card.
