HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Theo Angus scored twice as the SCAD Savannah men's soccer team recorded a 6-1 The Sun Conference victory over Southeastern University Saturday (Sept. 11) evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The 20th-ranked Bees improved to 7-0-0 overall and to 4-0-0 in the conference while the Fire fell to 3-2-0 and to 1-1-0. SCAD returns to action next Saturday (Sept. 18) when they host St. Thomas (Fla.) University in a 7 p.m. league contest.
Angus scored his first goal of the evening off an
Ellert Hreinsson assist in the seventh minute.
Sebastien Anzevui notched his first score of the season off a Norman Vernazza corner kick 20 minutes later. The Bees were again successful on another corner kick in the 32nd minute as
Matt Dwyer scored off a
Jose Izurieta-Herrera corner to take a 3-0 lead.
The Fire got their lone goal from Stephen Eppinger at the 32:08 mark. That goal snapped a streak of 354:46 that SCAD had held the opposition without a score. The Bees took a 5-1 lead at the half as SCAD score two goals late in the period. Hreinsson, who leads the team with 12 goals, converted a penalty kick and Angus scored his fourth goal of the season.
Izurieta-Herrera closed out the scoring with his first goal of 2010 on a Hreinsson assist midway through the second half.
