HARDEEVILLE, S.C. –
Brinton Nute's goal with 5:34 remaining gave SCAD Savannah a 1-0 victory over Northwood (Fla.) University Wednesday (Nov. 10) evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex in the semifinals of the 2010 The Sun Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.

The 14th-ranked Bees, who are seeded No. 2 in the tournament, improved to 14-3-0 and now will advance to the 2 p.m. title match Saturday (Nov. 13) where they will face No. 1 seed St. Thomas (Fla.) University in Miami. The 14 wins set a university record for the Bees. Northwood, the tournament's No. 3 seed, ended their season at 12-6-0.

The deciding goal came on a set piece off a direct kick just outside the box. Jose Izurieta-Herrera knocked the ball into the box over Northwood goalkeeper Andy Robertson's head and found Nute, who got around his defender, and was able to knock the ball into the back of the net. It was Nute's first goal of 2010.

SCAD, which outshot the Seahawks 24-11, had two other opportunities to score as Richard Langthorne's attempt nailed the crossbar and Ellert Hreinsson's shot hit the post in the waning minutes.

Goalkeeper Ross Faulds recorded his ninth shutout of the season as he stopped five shots. Robertson registered nine saves for the Seahawks.
