LAKE WALES, Fla. – Ellert Hreinsson's golden goal in the 83rd minute gave the SCAD Savannah men's soccer team a 1-0 The Sun Conference match Friday (Oct. 22) afternoon at Royals Field.
The 14th-ranked Bees improved to 12-3-0 overall and remain in first place in the conference with a 7-1-0 ledger. The 25th-ranked Royals fell to 11-4-1 and 5-3-0. SCAD closes out the regular season Sunday (Oct. 24) with a 3:30 p.m. league contest against Webber International University in Babson Park, Fla.
It was the second consecutive win over a ranked opponent for SCAD and the ninth shutout recorded by the Bees this season.
Brinton Nute chipped the ball over a Warner defender into the box from 30 yards out to a waiting Hreinsson, who collected the ball and slotted the ball into the right corner of the net for the deciding goal at the 82:59 mark. It was Hreinsson's team-leading 17th strike of 2010.
