HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – SCAD Savannah scored three goals in a six-minute span in the second half as the Bees thwarted Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University 3-0 in a The Sun Conference men's soccer match Saturday (Oct. 16) evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The 19th-ranked Bees improved to 11-3-0 overall and remain in first place in the conference with a 6-1-0 ledger. The 25th-ranked Eagles slipped to 6-5-0 and 4-2-0. SCAD returns to action Friday (Oct. 22) with a 6 p.m. contest against Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla.
After a scoreless first half, the Bees struck first on a blast from 35 yards out by
Ellert Hreinsson that landed in the top right-handed corner of the goal at the 56:46 mark. It was Hreinsson's team-leading 16th goal of the season. Four minutes later SCAD took a 2-0 lead on
Steve Dowling's chip shot from just outside the box that found the top left corner of the net. Dowling's third goal of the season was set up by a pass from
Matt Dwyer.
The Bees scored their final goal at the 62:34 mark on a set piece from
Theo Angus on a direct kick after an Embry-Riddle foul. Angus' sixth goal of the season hit the crossbar, ricocheted off the far post and into the goal.

Ross Faulds recorded his seventh clean sheet of the season – a new university record - as he recorded five saves as the Bees recorded their eighth shutout as a team.
