HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - An own goal with 7:17 remaining gave the Savannah College of Art and Design men's soccer team a 2-1 The Sun Conference victory over Warner University Sunday (Sept. 27) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Bees improved to 5-2-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the conference while the Royals fell to 3-4-1 and 0-1-1. SCAD returns to the pitch Saturday (Oct. 3) with a 1 p.m. home contest against Truett-McConnell College.
With the match tied at 1, SCAD, which outshot the Royals 18-8, got the deciding goal when Ally McDonald sent the ball into the box and it was deflected into to the net by Warner's Leonardo Acosta.
Warner had tied the match 21 seconds before the half when Gary Sean Smith knocked in a rebound of Daniel Scully's initial shot that SCAD goalkeeper
