ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Karl Sjostrom tied a college record as he assisted on three goals while teammate
Dan Fadida scored twice as the Savannah College of Art and Design men's soccer team defeated Eckerd College 3-1 Sunday (Sept. 13) afternoon at the Turley Athletics Complex.
The Bees improved to 4-1-1 while the NCAA Division II Tritons fell to 2-2-0. After playing the first six matches of the season on the road, SCAD will open the home portion of its schedule Friday (Sept. 18) when they face Southern Polytechnic State University in a 7 p.m. match at the SCAD Athletics Complex. The Bees will now play their next five matches and eight of the next nine at home.
SCAD started off the match quickly scoring in the fifth minute on a shot by
Ellert Hreinsson, who registered his team-leading five goal of the season. The Bees scored again in the 19th minute on a breakaway goal by Fadida inside the Triton goalkeeper box.
Fadida was able to punch another ball through the Tritons' defense in the 68th minute to give SCAD a 3-0 advantage. Grant Edick scored the Tritons' only goal of the game, assisted by senior Will Thacker and junior Kiki Gonzalez in the 83rd minute.
