LAKELAND, Fla. - After waiting out a two-hour lightning delay Monday (Aug. 31) evening, the Savannah College of Art and Design provided its own power display as the Bees doused the Southeastern University Fire 6-0 in a The Sun Conference men's soccer match at the SEU Soccer Complex.
The Bees recorded their second consecutive shutout to open 2009 as they improved to 2-0-0 overall and to 2-0-0 in the conference while the Fire slipped to 0-1-0 and 0-1-0. SCAD returns to action Friday (Sept. 4) when they will face Florida Memorial University in a 3 p.m. league contest in Miami.
Javier Melon Gil led the Bees with two goals while
Karl Sjostrom and
Ryan Middleton each added a goal and two assists.
Ellert Hreinsson notched his team-leading third goal of the season and added an assist as SCAD outshot Southeastern 21-9.
Brinton Nute also tallied his first goal for the Bees.
