AVE MARIA, FLA. - Ellert Hreinsson led the Savannah College of Art and Design men's soccer team past Ave Maria University 3-0 Friday (Aug. 28) afternoon.
The Bees improved to 1-0-0 overall and in The Sun Conference while the Gyrenes, who are in the first season as a conference school, fell to 1-1-0 overall and to 0-1-0 in the league. SCAD returns to action Monday (Aug. 31) when they travel to Lakeland, Fla., for a 7 p.m. league tilt against fellow league newcomer Southeastern University.
SCAD scored all of its goals in the opening half. Hreinsson gave the Bees a 1-0 lead at the 15:30 mark on a
Brinton Nute assist.
Josiah Millar doubled the advantage in the 29th minute off a pass from
Ally MacDonald. Hreinsson closed out the scoring with just over five minutes remaining in the half for the Bees on an unassisted goal.
