HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Ellert Hreinsson scored twice as the Savannah College of Art and Design men's soccer team recorded a 5-0 shutout over Johnson & Wales (Fla.) University on a cool Sunday (Oct. 18) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Bees improved to 8-3-2 overall and to 5-1-1 in The Sun Conference while the Wildcats fell to 2-12-0 and 2-5-0. SCAD returns to action Wednesday (Oct. 21) with a 7 p.m. league encounter with Webber International University at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
SCAD, which outshot Johnson & Wales 30-2, jumped out a 2-0 lead as the Bees scored twice in a five-minute span midway through the first half.
Josiah Millar scored in the 14th minute off an assist from
Brinton Nute while
Ryan Middleton notched his third goal of 2009 off a Millar pass.
Hreinsson gave the Bees some breathing room in the opening minutes of the second half when he scored off a cross from
Dan Fadida.
Javier Melon Gil added a goal in the 64th minute before Hreinsson closed out the scoring four minutes later.
