HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — The No. 3 SCAD women's lacrosse team had a superb showing on Friday evening, cruising to a 21-5 victory over No. RV Georgetown College at the Athletics Complex.
RECORDS: The Bees improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Tigers drop to 2-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD wasted no time asserting dominance, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in the first quarter.
McKinsey Brown found the back of the net twice in the opening frame, while six different Bees added goals to ignite the offense.
The Bees completely shut down the Tigers in the middle periods, outscoring Georgetown 12-1 across the second and third quarters.
Ellen Benintendi was electric in the second, netting two goals, while defender
Kinsey Shoemaker joined the scoring column. By the end of the third quarter, SCAD had extended its lead to a commanding 20-3.
SCAD maintained the defensive pressure in the final frame with only two goals being scored.
Annise Berkeley capped off the night with a goal on a free-position score, to finalize the 21-5 scoreline. The Bees' defense remained disciplined throughout, limiting Georgetown to just nine shots on goal the entire game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- McKinsey Brown led the offensive explosion with a game-high eight points, recording four goals and four assists.
- Kellen Berkley had a stellar evening with six points coming on three goals and three assists.
- Ellen Benintendi continued her stellar season with four points on four goals while also leading the team with seven draw controls.
- Lilah Herold had the third most goals with three. Annise Berkley and Karley Holland each added two goals.
- Maddie Krohn, Maddy Hahn and Kinsey Shoemaker each contributed one goal to the Bees' total.
- McKinsey Brown led the team with three caused turnovers.
- Goalies Marleigh Burritt, Lorna Fowels and Chloe Zundel split time in the cage, with Burritt earning the win and Fowles making three saves in her 23 minutes of play.
- There were four Bees that notched a hat trick in the contest.
