WILSON, N.C. — The No. 5 SCAD Savannah women's lacrosse team continued its perfect start to the season, securing a 16-4 win over NCAA DII Barton College on Saturday morning.

RECORDS: The Bees improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Bulldogs drop to 1-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD overcame a 1-0 deficit to dominate the final three quarters of play. Barton opened the scoring early, but Lilah Herold answered with two unassisted goals to give the Bees a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.

The second quarter saw the Bees find their rhythm, outscoring the Bulldogs 6-1. Ellen Benintendi and Kellen Berkeley led the charge both notching three goals each to help SCAD reach an 8-2 lead at the half.

SCAD broke the game open in the third quarter with a 7-1 run. Herold, K. Berkeley, and Benintendi all found the back of the net before Maddy Hahn, Annise Berkeley and McKinsey Brown capped off the quarter with goals of their own, pushing the lead to 15-3. The Bees added one final power-play goal from Paige Frias in the fourth quarter to seal the 16-4 result.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Ellen Benintendi was a force with five points on four goals and one assist. She also dominated the center circle with five draw controls.
• Kellen Berkeley was a powerhouse as she recorded four goals and one assist for a five-point outing.
• Annise Berkeley contributed one goal and three assists, while Lilah Herold notched a hat trick.
• McKinsey Brown finished with one goal and two assists.
• Paige Frias, Maddy Hahn, and Karley Holland each added a goal to the Bees' tally.
• Defensively, Chloe Zundel earned the win in the cage, making four saves in over 43 minutes of action before Marleigh Burritt and Lorna Fowles closed out the game.
• The Bees added seven caused turnovers as a team on defense.

The Bees are back in action on Wednesday, March 4 to host Dominican University (New York) at 5 p.m.
