HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — The No. 3 SCAD Savannah women's lacrosse team faced a tough loss on Wednesday evening, falling 16-10 to NCAA Division II No. 17 Dominican University - New York.
RECORDS: The Bees move to 3-1 on the season, while the Chargers improve to 2-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Dominican University established an early lead, outscoring the Bees 7-2 in the opening quarter.
McKinsey Brown and
Ellen Benintendi each found the back of the net for SCAD in the first frame to keep the Bees within striking distance.
In the second quarter, SCAD's offense began to find its rhythm with three goals, including scores from Brown and Benintendi yet again. However, the Chargers matched the effort with five goals of their own to take a 12-5 lead into the halftime break.
The Bees rallied in the third quarter, outscoring Dominican 4-1. Benintendi was relentless, netting two in the period to cut the deficit to 13-9 heading into the final frame. Despite a man-up goal from Benintendi in the fourth quarter, the Chargers added three final frame goals to secure the 16-10 victory.
