HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — The No. RV SCAD men's lacrosse team continued its offensive surge on Saturday afternoon, securing a dominant 22-3 victory over LaGrange College at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
RECORDS: With the win, the Bees improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 0-2.
DID YOU KNOW? This is the second game in-a-row in which the Bees have scored 20 or more goals. The last time this happened was in 2020, which is also the last time SCAD had a 4-0 start to the season.
With the first goal of the game,
Mason Hickman reached a career high 100 points. By the end of the game, his points total sits at 106 total.
Sebastian Manuel's back-to-back goals in the later half of the first quarter put him at a career high 100 points. He now has a total of 102 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD established immediate control in the first quarter, jumping out to an 9-0 lead. The scoring barrage was led by
Mason Hickman and
Sebastian Manuel who both tallied two goals in the quarter. Also adding to the scoring charge was
Jonathan O'Bryant Graves,
Hunter Currie,
Lucas Martinez,
Logan Ortigosa, and
Ian Wildermuth.
The Bees' momentum carried into the second quarter, where they outscored the visitors 6-0 to take a commanding 14-0 lead into halftime. Hickman continued his hot hand with three more goals in the frame, supported by strikes from O'Bryant Graves,
Jackson Meyer, and
Danny Harrington.
SCAD added four more goals in the third quarter behind efforts from
Ethan Cline (2),
Noah Moreland, and Hickman to take an 18-0 lead into the final quarter.
In the final period, the Bees capped off the performance with three additional goals from Eli Philips (2),
Ryan Byrne, and
Peter Zagaroli to seal the 19-goal victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: The Bees' offensive pressure was relentless as they outshot the visitors 56-18 and held a 38-11 advantage in shots on goal.
Mason Hickman led all scorers with six goals and one assist, while
Jonathan O'Bryant Graves and
Sebastian Manuel recorded two goals and two assists each.
Ian Wildermuth added one goal and three assists for four points, with
Ethan Cline totaling two goals.
Nine other players contributed to the offense with one goal.
Defensively, Levin Henning led with three caused turnovers and two ground balls, while
Eli Phillips and
Josh Ledina added two caused turnovers a piece.
Lucas Martinez led all players with seven ground balls.
Noah Miller,
Keaton Melcher and
Callum Meroney split time in the cage with Melcher totaling eight saves.
SCAD also excelled in the transition game, successful on 11-of-13 clear attempts while forcing 27 opponent turnovers.
