BABSON PARK, Fla. – The SCAD women's soccer team delivered a complete performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Webber International 2-0 to secure its first conference victory of the 2025 season. The Bees controlled the match from start to finish, using early offensive pressure and a disciplined backline to record their fifth win of the year.
SCAD wasted no time establishing its attack, winning a pair of early corner kicks and creating scoring opportunities through sharp passing sequences. The breakthrough came in the 13th minute when midfielder Ida Akesson found the back of the net, putting SCAD ahead 1-0. The goal gave the Bees an early lift and set the tone for the rest of the half.
Throughout the opening period, SCAD's midfield dictated play, with Haidyn Jenkins and Mina Haggstrom each testing the Warriors' goalkeeper. Webber managed just one first-half shot, which sailed wide, as the Bees' defense remained compact and organized. SCAD went into halftime with an 8-1 advantage in shots and a deserved one-goal lead.
The Bees carried that energy into the second half and doubled their advantage in the 58th minute. Defender Mia Nelson, coming off the bench, made an immediate impact by slotting home SCAD's second goal of the match. Nelson's strike gave the Bees breathing room and put Webber on the back foot.
SCAD continued to generate chances as the match progressed, including a shot from Mia Gomez that struck the post in the 62nd minute. Webber had its best opportunity in the 70th minute when a long-range effort hit the crossbar, but the Warriors were unable to break through against SCAD's defensive unit.
Goalkeeper Saga Bryntesson earned the clean sheet without recording a save, as the Bees' backline — anchored by Emilia Irle, Mina Haggstrom, and Lois Beer — denied Webber any clear looks at goal. SCAD's depth also proved valuable, with 11 different players coming off the bench to contribute meaningful minutes.
Overall, the Bees outshot Webber 14-3, including an 8-0 edge in shots on goal. SCAD also held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks while committing just seven fouls to Webber's one.
With the victory, SCAD improves to 5-3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Webber International drops to 4-3-1 (0-1).
