WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The SCAD women's soccer team showed resilience and fight on the road against one of the nation's top programs, but the Bees fell 3-0 to No. 1-ranked Keiser University on Sunday afternoon. The match was halted in the 73rd minute due to severe weather, with the scoreline standing in favor of the hosts.
Keiser struck first in the 11th minute when Haley Miller converted a feed from Blanca Bachi to put the Seahawks ahead 1-0. Despite the early setback, SCAD settled into the match and began to find rhythm in possession, working the ball through the midfield and earning their first looks at goal.
The Bees continued to battle, but Keiser doubled its lead in the 34th minute when Bachi capitalized on a defensive clearance to notch her sixth goal of the season. SCAD nearly answered late in the first half when substitute Elsa Johansson forced a diving save from Keiser goalkeeper Mio Tanaka in the 42nd minute. The Bees trailed 2-0 at halftime but showed momentum as the second half began.
In the 52nd minute, the Seahawks added a third tally, with Lauren Riley finishing off a well-placed cross from Steingerthur Snorrad. Undeterred, SCAD pressed forward and generated several of their best chances of the match shortly after. Johansson again tested Tanaka with a shot just wide, and both Haidyn Jenkins and Ida Akesson saw efforts blocked or saved in a flurry of opportunities inside the 64th minute.
On the defensive side, goalkeeper Saga Bryntesson kept SCAD within reach throughout the match, registering five saves against Keiser's high-powered attack. Her quick reflexes included a diving stop in the 49th minute and a late save on a shot from Karine Orud just before the match was called.
In total, SCAD recorded six shots, with three on frame, while the defense weathered 16 attempts from the Seahawks. Johansson led the team with two shots, while Jenkins, Irle, Akesson, and Wuestefeld each contributed efforts.
The match was officially halted in the 73rd minute as lightning and severe storms moved into the area, ending play with Keiser holding the 3-0 advantage.
With the result, SCAD drops to 4-4-1 on the season, while Keiser improves to 8-1-0. Despite the scoreline, the Bees' ability to create chances against one of the top-ranked teams in the NAIA highlighted their competitiveness and growth heading deeper into conference play.
