The SCAD women's soccer team showed grit and resilience on the road Friday night, playing St. Thomas to a 0–0 draw in a tightly contested matchup.
The Bees (4-2) matched the Bobcats shot-for-shot, finishing with 10 attempts, all of them on frame. Sophomore midfielder Ida Akesson proved to be a constant threat, recording a team-high three shots, all on goal, while forwards Mia Gomez and Irma Olesen each added two quality chances. Despite their persistence, SCAD was denied by St. Thomas goalkeeper Isabella Peñaranda, who tallied 10 saves to keep the Bees off the board.
On the defensive end, SCAD stood strong. Goalkeeper Saga Bryntesson anchored the back line with a commanding performance, registering seven saves to secure her third clean sheet of the season. Defenders Emily Lau and Emilia Irle played the full 90 minutes, helping to frustrate St. Thomas attackers and withstand 12 total shots.
The Bees picked up momentum in the second half, generating seven shots and two corner kicks as they pressed for a breakthrough. Their best looks came late, with efforts from Cali Wuestefeld, Aleca Garcia Velaza, and Åkesson testing Peñaranda inside the final 15 minutes.
The match also saw a physical edge, with St. Thomas earning two yellow cards, while SCAD kept their composure throughout.
With the draw, SCAD continues a strong stretch of play and now sits at 4-2 on the season.
