Men's Soccer Battles To 4-4 Draw With Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In a back-and-forth contest filled with momentum swings and late drama, the SCAD men's soccer team earned a 4–4 draw against Faulkner University on Saturday evening at Billy Hilyer Stadium. The result moves the Bees to 1–3–2 on the season, while Faulkner stands at 4–2–1.

The match featured eight total goals and showcased SCAD's resiliency, as the Bees overcame multiple deficits and nearly secured a road victory before Faulkner equalized in the closing minutes.

Faulkner struck first in the 32nd minute through Pepé Riofrio, then doubled its lead just five minutes later when Asaph Silveira converted a pass from Julio Cesar. Facing a two-goal hole, SCAD responded right before halftime. Mario Goic calmly converted from the penalty spot in the 45th minute, sending the Bees into the break trailing 2–1.

The second half brought even more fireworks. Faulkner extended its lead to 3–1 in the 58th minute courtesy of Julio Cesar, but SCAD rallied in spectacular fashion. Nils Vallotto scored twice in a three-minute span to level the match. His first, in the 77th minute, came off a clever setup from Goic, while his second just two minutes later was assisted by German Moreno and Leon Grube.

With the momentum firmly on their side, the Bees surged ahead in the 83rd minute when Goic netted his second goal of the evening, completing a brilliant attacking sequence to give SCAD a 4–3 advantage. The goal capped a standout performance for Goic, who finished with two goals and an assist.

Unfortunately for the Bees, Faulkner found one last response. In the 90th minute, substitute Konsti Witte buried an equalizer off a cross from Pedro Trinidade, denying SCAD what would have been a dramatic road win.

Statistically, Faulkner held a narrow 17–14 edge in total shots, while SCAD put eight of its efforts on frame. Goalkeeper Noa Sonntag made seven saves despite conceding four goals.

Individually, Goic and Vallotto led the attack, combining for all four SCAD goals. Leon Grube and German Moreno added assists, highlighting the team's balanced playmaking.

The draw showcased SCAD's ability to battle through adversity and respond under pressure, as the Bees erased two separate two-goal deficits to earn a result on the road.

SCAD will look to build on the momentum from this performance as the Bees continue their fall campaign next week
