THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The SCAD women's soccer team turned in one of its most complete performances of the season Friday evening, defeating Thomas University 4–0 on the road at the TU Complex. The Bees were sharp on both sides of the ball, improving to 4–2 overall while collecting their third shutout of the young campaign.
From the opening whistle, SCAD dictated the tempo of play. The Bees built early pressure through midfield control and quick ball movement, forcing Thomas to defend deep in its own half. That persistence paid off in the 12th minute when Cali Wuestefeld opened the scoring with her first goal of the season. Wuestefeld calmly finished a feed from Aleca Garcia Velaza, putting SCAD in front 1–0 and setting the tone for the rest of the match.
The Bees continued to threaten the Night Hawks' defense, and in the 33rd minute, Mia Gomez provided the spark that broke the game wide open. Gomez first struck in the 33rd minute, finishing off a pass from substitute Wilma Hedenberg to double the lead. Less than a minute later, Gomez struck again—this time connecting on a well-placed ball from defender Emilia Irle—to notch her team-leading fifth goal of the season. The quickfire brace stunned the home side and sent SCAD into halftime with a commanding 3–0 advantage.
After the break, SCAD showed no signs of slowing down. The Bees controlled possession, rotated players effectively, and continued to create chances. Thomas attempted to push forward, earning three corner kicks in the second half, but the SCAD defense remained organized and resilient. Goalkeeper Saga Bryntesson was tested just twice all night, making a pair of saves to secure the clean sheet.
The final blow came in the 77th minute when Haidyn Jenkins added her second goal of the season. Wuestefeld, already with a goal to her name, turned provider by slipping a pass through the defense that Jenkins buried to seal the 4–0 result.
Statistically, SCAD outshot Thomas 18–10 and put eight shots on frame compared to just two for the Night Hawks. Despite conceding six corner kicks, the Bees' backline anchored by Elsa Johansson, Emilia Irle, and Emily Lau kept Thomas from generating any consistent threats. On the offensive end, SCAD's balance was on display, with four different players recording assists and three different players finding the back of the net.
The victory marks the second time this season that SCAD has scored four or more goals in a match, highlighting the attacking depth of the squad. Gomez continues to pace the team offensively, while emerging contributors like Wuestefeld and Jenkins add another dimension to the Bees' attack.
