No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse Drops 15-8 Decision in SUN Final

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 3 SCAD women's lacrosse team fell 15-8 to No. 10 Life University in the Sun Conference Final on Saturday.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 14-3, while the Running Eagles are 11-7 overall.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Life got on the board first with a goal at the 10:37 mark. SCAD answered 15 seconds later to tie the game at one-all off a goal from Emily Odegaard. The Running Eagles responded with three more goals before Odegaard scored again with 6:55 remaining in the first quarter bringing the score to 4-2.
 
Both teams scored two more goals in the first quarter with the Bees' coming from Karly Holland, off an assist from Mollie Geiger, and Emma Roch to head into the second quarter with a score of 6-4 in favor of Life.
 
Emily Odegaard scored the first goal of the second quarter to come within one (6-5) of the Running Eagles, but Life answered with two more goals to bring the score to 8-5. Emma Roch, off an assist from McKinsey Brown, scored the last goal of the half to go into halftime down 8-6.
 
Life scored two goals in the third quarter to SCAD's zero to take a 10-6 lead going into the final quarter.
 
Riley O'Keefe scored the Bees' first goal in the fourth quarter at the 13:13 mark. Unfortunately, Life answered with five goals to take a 15-7 lead with just 5:42 remaining in the game. McKinsey Brown scored the last goal of the game to bring the score to 15-8.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Emily Odegaard led the Bees with three goals and three points. Emma Roch scored two goals, and McKinsey Brown had one goal and one assist, both tallied two points.
 
Karley Holland and Riley O'Keefe totaled one goal each. Ellen Benintendi had a game-high seven draw controls, while Holland had a team-high three caused turnovers.
 
Goalies Chloe Zundel and Lorna Fowles split time in the cage, with Zundel totaling five saves and Fowles four. On Zundel's first save of the game, she totaled her 200th career save.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will wait to see if they will earn an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship.
