WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The No. RV men's lacrosse team fell 16-8 to No. 4 University of the Cumberlands on Saturday afternoon.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 3-6, 2-3 AAC, while the Patriots are 6-0, 3-0 AAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD struck first as
Mason Hickman found the back of the net off an assist from
Max Williams to go up 1-0 just over a minute into the game. Cumberlands responded with four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.
Max Williams and
Noah Moreland, scored the Bees' two goals in the second quarter as SCAD went into halftime down 9-3.
The Bees started the third quarter scoring four goals—
Jonathan O'Bryant Graves (2),
Max Williams, and
Mason Hickman—bringing SCAD within two (7-9) before the Patriots scored two more to head into the final quarter up 11-7.
Mason Hickman scored the Bees' lone goal in the fourth as the Cumberlands scored five to earn the 16-8 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Mason Hickman totaled three goals and one assist, while
Max Williams had two goals and two assists, both totaling a team-high four points.
Jonathan O'Bryant Graves and
Noah Moreland had two and one goals, respectively, with Moreland adding one assist.
Lucas Martinez went 15-26 at face off and picked up a game-high 10 ground balls. Goalie
Noah Miller had nine saves in his 56 minutes of work.
