HARDEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD women's lacrosse team continued their strong season, defeating Grove City College 17-10 on March 4, 2025, improving their record to 5-0.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 5-0, while Grove City College falls to 1-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD opened the scoring with a goal from Ellen Benintendi at the 14:49 mark, quickly establishing a lead. Annise Berkeley followed shortly with another goal, making it 2-0. Grove City responded with a goal, narrowing the gap to 2-1.
The teams traded goals throughout the first quarter, with Tori Stevenson bringing Grove City to a 2-2 tie before SCAD pulled ahead again. By the end of the first period, SCAD led 5-4.
In the second quarter, SCAD extended their lead, with goals from Emma Roch and McKinsey Brown. Grove City managed to score as well, but SCAD closed the half strong, leading 10-4.
The third quarter saw SCAD maintain control, adding to their tally with goals from Benintendi and Roch. SCAD led 14-6 by the end of the period.
In the final quarter, both teams scored, with Grove City making a late push. However, SCAD held their ground and secured the 17-10 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Ellen Benintendi led SCAD with six goals and one assist, while Emma Roch contributed three goals. McKinsey Brown added three goals and one assist.
SCAD dominated in shots, totaling 34 compared to Grove City's 26. The goalkeepers made significant contributions, with SCAD's Lorna Fowles recording three saves in 15 minutes.
