WILLIAMSBURG, KY – The No.1 SCAD women's lacrosse team continued their impressive season, defeating the No. 2 University of the Cumberlands 18-11 on March 7, 2025, improving their record to 6-0.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 6-0, while Cumberlands falls to 6-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees opened the scoring with a goal from McKinsey Brown at the 14:16 mark, quickly establishing a lead. Cumberlands responded with a goal tying the game at 1-1. The teams continued to trade goals, with the Bees pulling ahead 5-4 by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Bees extended their lead with goals from Karley Holland and Ellen Benintendi. Despite Cumberlands scoring a couple of goals, the Bees closed the half strong, leading 10-8.
The third quarter saw the Bees maintain their control, with Karley Holland scoring three goals in quick succession, bringing the lead to 13-9 by the end of the period.
In the final quarter, both teams exchanged goals, but the Bees held their ground, securing the 18-11 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Karley Holland was the standout for the Bees, netting six goals, while Ellen Benintendi contributed three goals and one assist. McKinsey Brown and Mollie Geiger also made significant contributions, each adding multiple points to the scoreboard.
The Bees dominated in shots, totaling 32 compared to Cumberlands' 27. The goalkeepers played pivotal roles, with Chloe Zundel making seven saves throughout the match.
