SCAD Downs Emmanuel 21-19

Franklin Springs, Ga. – The SCAD women's lacrosse team pulled off a thrilling victory against Emmanuel, winning 21-19 in a tightly contested match. 

RECORDS: The Bees improve to 2-0 overall, while Emmanuel moves to 1-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD came out strong, scoring six goals in the first quarter to build an early lead. Emmanuel responded with two goals, but SCAD maintained their edge, ending the first period 6-2. 

Emmanuel found their rhythm in the second quarter, netting five goals, but SCAD continued to score, leading 13-7 at halftime. The Bees maintained their momentum with another strong performance in the third quarter, extending their lead to 18-11. 

However, Emmanuel surged back in the fourth quarter, scoring eight goals. Despite the pressure, SCAD held on to their lead to secure the 21-19 victory. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Ellen Benintendi led SCAD with an impressive six goals and one assist. Emma Roch and McKinsey Brown contributed with three and four goals, respectively. Annise Berkeley also made significant contributions with two goals and two assists. 

For Emmanuel, Paige Murphy led the way with six goals, while Meghan Jennings and Demi Czynski each added three goals. Mikaela Austin stood out with one goal and four assists. 

In terms of statistics, SCAD won 20 draw controls compared to Emmanuel's 23. The Bees also recorded 21 ground balls, with Annise Berkeley leading the way. 

Goalkeepers Chloe Zundel and Lorna Fowles combined for 12 saves, showcasing strong defensive efforts throughout the game. 

In addition, Emma Rouch also achieved a career milestone of 100 ground balls during today's game. 

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will look to continue their winning streak as they prepare to face off against North Greenville University on February 8.
