SPARKS, MARYLAND – The No. 1 SCAD women's lacrosse team faced off against No. 2 Lawrence Tech in a thrilling matchup, coming away with a 20-17 victory on Saturday.Â
RECORDS: SCAD improves to 4-0 overall, while Lawrence Tech falls to 0-1.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â The first quarter saw both teams evenly matched, ending at 3-3. SCAD surged in the second quarter, driven by standout Ellen Benintendi, who scored multiple goals. By halftime, SCAD had established a commanding 11-7 lead.Â
In the third quarter, Lawrence Tech mounted a comeback, narrowing the gap to 12-11. However, SCAD maintained their composure and extended their lead in the final quarter, ultimately sealing the game at 20-17.Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Ellen Benintendi led the way for SCAD with an impressive five goals and one assist. Emma Roch (two goals, one assist), Karley Holland (three goals), Mollie Geiger (three goals, two assists), and McKinsey Brown (two goals, four assists) also played crucial roles in the offensive performance for the Bees.Â
Defensively, SCAD controlled the game with 21 draw controls and 16 ground balls. Goalkeeper Lorna Fowles made five saves, which were crucial in maintaining SCAD's lead.Â
