Box Score LAGRANGE, Ga. – The No. 9 SCAD men's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season, defeating NCAA DIII LaGrange College 9-7 on the road.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-4 overall, while the Panthers start the season 0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD scored the first goal of the game when
Griffith Long found the back of the net at the 9:46 mark. LaGrange answered five minutes later to tie the game at one-all, but
Evan Baker made it a 2-1 game in favor of the Bees heading into the second quarter.
SCAD continued to outscore the Panthers, scoring four goals –
Michael Mowers,
Vihaan Patel (assisted by
Lucas Martinez),
Mason Hickman (2) – to LaGrange's three to go into the half up 6-4.
Evan Baker scored off an assist from
Max Williams to give the Bees a 7-5 lead in the third quarter.
Mason Hickman earned his second hat trick in as many days with a goal with 5:31 remaining in the third to maintain the two-goal lead (8-6) heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Michal Mowers scored with 41 seconds left in regulations to give the Bees the 9-7 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Mason Hickman scored three goals, while
Michael Mowers and
Evan Baker totaled two goals each.
Griffith Long and
Vihaan Patel tallied one goal each, while
Max Williams and
Lucas Martinez added one assist a piece.
Lucas Martinez went 9-15 at face-off while tying a team-high five ground balls.
Theron Turnbull also totaled five ground balls. Goalie
Noah Miller totaled nine saves in his 60 minutes of work.
