WALESKA, Ga. – The No. 9 SCAD men's lacrosse team opened Appalachian Athletic Conference action with a 15-5 loss at No. 3 Reinhardt University on Saturday.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 0-4, 0-1 AAC to start the season, while the Eagles are 2-0, 1-0 AAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Reinhardt outscored the Bees 4-1 in the first quarters, with SCAD's goal coming from
Mason Hickman off an assist from
Theron Turnbull with just over nine minutes remaining in the quarter.
Neither team scored in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 4-1 score in favor of the Eagles.
SCAD opened the scoring in the third with another goal from
Mason Hickman, assisted by
Theron Turnbull, to make it a 4-2 game.
Jonathan O'Bryant Graves brought the score to within two (6-2) with back-to-back goals – the first assisted by
Sebastian Manuel – at the 7:04 and 5:32 marks.
Mason Hickman completed his hat trick with the last goal of the game with just under two minutes remaining.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Hickman led the offensive charge for the Bees with three goals for three points. O'Bryant Graves added two goals, and Turnbull added two assists, both for two points.
Goalie
Noah Miller totaled 11 saves and seven ground balls in his 60 minutes of work.
Cameron Clark totaled a game-high three caused turnovers, while Turnbull,
Gordon Beck, and
Levi Henning added on each.
Lucas Martinez went 10-19 at the face-off.
