Bees Dominate No.1 Reinhardt In Season Opener

WALESKA, GA – The No. 4 SCAD women's lacrosse team powered through their matchup against No. 1 Reinhardt University, securing a decisive 19-9 victory on February 1, 2025. 

RECORDS: SCAD improves to 1-0 overall, while Reinhardt falls to 0-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees established dominance early, scoring five goals in the first quarter, including two from McKinsey Brown and two from Ellen Benintendi. By the end of the first quarter, SCAD held a commanding 5-2 lead. 

The second quarter saw Reinhardt attempt to close the gap, scoring two goals, but SCAD responded with two of their own, leading 6-4 at halftime. 

In the third quarter, SCAD exploded with eight goals, showcasing their offensive prowess and extending their lead to 16-6. They continued to control the game in the final quarter, adding three more goals to secure the 19-9 victory. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: McKinsey Brown led the offensive charge for SCAD with an impressive seven goals and three assists. Ellen Benintendi contributed significantly, finishing with five goals and one assist. Riley O'Keefe added three goals, while Emma Roch scored two, rounding out a strong offensive performance. 

Defensively, SCAD dominated the ground balls, collecting a total of 39 compared to Reinhardt's 28. McKinsey Brown also excelled in draw controls, securing a game-high six. 

Goalies Lorna Fowles and Chloe Zundel shared duties in the net, recording three and two saves, respectively. 

WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will look to continue their winning streak on the road at Emmanuel University on February 6, 2025.
