Lake Wales, Fla. – SCAD women's soccer turned in a dominant performance on the road Saturday, defeating Warner University 6-0 to secure its third straight conference victory. With the result, SCAD improves to 7-4-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while recording its third consecutive shutout.
From the opening whistle, SCAD dictated the pace of play, pressing forward and creating scoring opportunities. The Bees broke through in the 6th minute when Mia Gomez found the back of the net, finishing a setup from Irma Olesen. The momentum stayed with SCAD, and in the 27th minute Haidyn Jenkins doubled the advantage with a well-placed strike to send the Bees into halftime leading 2-0.
SCAD wasted no time adding to its lead after the break. Just five minutes into the second half, Gomez tallied her second of the day, assisted by Ida Akesson, who then took over the scoring herself. In the 70th minute, Akesson delivered back-to-back goals in quick succession to put the game out of reach. Clara Howe rounded out the scoring in the 89th minute, slotting home a pass from Aleca Garcia Velaza to seal the 6-0 win.
The stat sheet reflected SCAD's dominance. The Bees outshot Warner 39-3, including a 23-2 edge in shots on goal, and controlled set pieces with a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeepers Saga Bryntesson and Katelynn Balsiger combined for the clean sheet, with Balsiger making two saves in the second half.
While SCAD's attack was firing on all cylinders, the defense was equally sharp. Anchored by a disciplined back line, the Bees allowed Warner few looks at goal, holding the Royals scoreless and frustrated throughout the match. Warner's goalkeeper, Inna Vannula, was forced into action all afternoon, recording 12 saves against SCAD's relentless attack.
The victory continues SCAD's midseason surge, as the Bees have now scored 13 goals across their last three matches while conceding none. The team's combination of balanced scoring, defensive organization, and depth off the bench has been key to their recent run of success.
SCAD will look to build on this momentum when the Bees return home for their next conference matchup.
