MARIETTA, Ga. – The No. 4 SCAD women's lacrosse team clinched the Sun Conference Regular Season on Saturday with an 18-4 win over No. 8 Life University.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 10-5, 5-0 SUN, while the Running Eagles are 11-4, 4-2 SUN.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Just over four minutes into the game, SCAD scored the first goal to take a 1-0 lead. Life tied it less than a minute later, but the Bees answered to take a 2-1 lead into the second half.
SCAD put the game out of reach in the second quarter, scoring eight goals to the Running Eagles' two to go into halftime up 10-3.
The Bees' defense held Life scoreless in the third quarter while the offense scored five goals to give SCAD a 15-3 lead going into the final quarter.
SCAD scored the first two goals in the fourth quarter. The Running Eagles answered with a goal of their own at the 6:44 mark, and the Bees scored in the last game of the game to earn the 18-4 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Clarke Haas led the charge on offense with a game-high five goals and two assists with a game-high seven points.
Annise Berkeley totaled four goals, while
Emma Roch totaled two goals and two assists.
MaryGrace Gordon scored two goals, while
Keagan Plume,
Brielle Bouchard,
Sophia Bluso, and
Ainsley Jones each scored one goal. Plume totaled two assists, while Bouchard had one.
Annise Berkeley had a game-high seven draw controls, while
Clarke Haas had five.
Natalie Palmeri and
Eden Ali totaled a team-high three caused turnovers.
Goalies
Lorna Fowles and
Chloe Zundel split time in the cage, with Fowles nabbing eight saves and Zundel four.
SUN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT: The Bees have won the Sun Conference Regular Season Title and will be the first seed in the tournament. The tournament will take place at Keiser University on Friday-Saturday, April 19-20. With the one-seed, SCAD will face the fourth-seeded Running Eagles of Life University on Friday at 12:00 p.m.
