WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The No. 4 SCAD women's lacrosse team defeated No. 8 Keiser University 19-11 Saturday afternoon on the road.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 7-5, 2-0 SUN, while the Seahawks drop to 4-5, 0-1 SUN.
200th CAREER SAVE: Sophomore goalie
Lorna Fowles totaled nine saves in the win. Her first save of the day was her 200
th career save.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Keiser started the scoring, going up 1-0 50 seconds into the first quarter. SCAD answered with back-to-back goals with 12:37 on the clock to go up 2-1. The Seahawks scored two minutes later to tie the game at two-all. Both teams scored one more goal in the quarter to go into the second quarter, tied at three.
The Bees went up 8-6 with 4:08 remaining in the half. Three consecutive goals from the Seahawks made it a 9-8 game in favor of Keiser, but a goal with one minute on the clock from SCAD knotted the game at nine-all to end the second quarter.
SCAD's defense held Keiser to only one goal in the third quarter to the Bees' three, giving SCAD a two-goal lead (12-10) heading into the final quarter.
Again, the Bees' defense held the Seahawks to only one goal as SCAD scored seven to earn the 19-11 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Clarke Haas led the offense with six goals and two assists for a game-high eight points.
Keagan Plume totaled six assists for six points.
Annise Berkeley and
Ainsley Jones scored four goals each, while
Emma Roch added two goals. Berkeley had a game-high 10 draw controls while Haas and Plume totaled five.
Molly Wilson,
Brielle Bouchard, and
MaryGrace Gordon scored one goal each.
Paige Christoff added one assist.
Emma Roch and
Eden Ali caused three turnovers.
