Big First Quarter Leads to 11-10 win for Men’s Lacrosse

MARIETTA, Ga. – The SCAD men's lacrosse team traveled to Marietta, Ga., for a neutral site game against the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday and are coming home with a win.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 3-2 overall, while the Wolverines are now 2-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees scored the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead not even two minutes into the game. Michigan-Dearborn answered with four goals to go up 4-1 with 7:33 remaining in the first quarter. SCAD retaliated with five unanswered goals to take a 6-2 lead into the second quarter.
 
Both teams scored two goals in the second quarter, followed by three goals from each team in the third quarter to give the Bees an 11-9 lead going into the final quarter.
 
SCAD's defense held the Wolverines to only one goal in the fourth quarter to clinch the 11-10 win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Mason Hickman led the offense with four goals and one assist for a game-high five points.
 
Jordan Reeves and Michael Mowers totaled two goals apiece, with Mowers adding one assist.
 
Sebastian Manuel, Evan Baker, and Theron Turnbull tallied one goal each, with Turnbull adding a game-high three assists and Manuel added two assists.
 
Lucas Martinez has a game-high five ground balls, with Jake Kozak and Kevin Curry following closely with three. Kozak and David Nebus totaled three, and two caused turnovers, respectively.
 
Kevin Curry went 12-13 at the face-off, while Lucas Martinez went 8-12 for a SCAD total of 20-25 wins.
 
Goalies Noah Miller and Luke Lamendola split time in the cage with Miller totaling three saves and Lamendola nabbing eight.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees return home to host Point University on Wednesday, February 28 at 4:00 p.m.
