Women's Soccer Advances To NAIA Semifinals With 1-0 Victory Over John Brown

PENSACOLA, FLA. - The ninth seed SCAD women's soccer team secured their spot in the NAIA Semifinals with a thrilling 1-0 win against the 16 seed John Brown University on Thursday afternoon. 

  

RECORDS: The Bees improve to an impressive 18-1-2 on the season, while John Brown concludes their campaign at 16-6-1. 

  

HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD  controlled the match, dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Despite a slow start, the Bees ramped up their offensive efforts, registering 11 shots compared to John Brown's 19. 

The first half was tightly contested, with neither team able to find the back of the net. SCAD struggled to convert their chances, but their defense, anchored by goalkeeper Saga Bryntesson, remained resolute, denying John Brown's attempts with seven saves in the opening period. 

In the second half, SCAD continued to apply pressure, but John Brown's defense held firm until the late goal. The Bees leaned on their poise and veteran leadership to see out the remainder of the game and secure the victory 

  

KEY PERFORMERS: 

 Ines Sommer: Scored the decisive goal, showcasing her striking ability in a crucial moment. 

Sydney Chura: Provided the assist and was a constant threat, contributing significantly to SCAD's offensive efforts. 

Saga Bryntesson: Recorded 11 saves, demonstrating exceptional skill in goal and maintaining her team's defensive integrity. 
 

WHAT'S NEXT: The ninth seeded Bees will take on the fifth seeded College of Idaho on Saturday, December 7th at 1:00 p.m. central time.
