PENSACOLA, FLA. - The ninth seeded SCAD women's soccer team secured their place in the NAIA National Championship with a commanding 2-0 victory over the fifth seeded College of Idaho in the semifinals on December 7, 2024.
RECORDS: The Bees improve to an impressive 19-1-2 on the season, while College of Idaho concludes their campaign at 20-1-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees showcased their offensive prowess, outshooting College of Idaho 15-7 and maintaining control throughout the match. The first goal came in the 19th minute when Abigail Siddall found the back of the net with an assist from Ines Sommer, marking Siddall's first goal of the tournament. The Bees continued to apply pressure, with Mia Gomez sealing the victory in the 80th minute, assisted by Sydney Chura.
The first half was largely dominated by SCAD, who recorded six shots compared to College of Idaho's five. Despite the close shot count, SCAD's defense, led by goalkeeper Saga Bryntesson, kept College of Idaho at bay, allowing no goals and only two shots on target.
In the second half, SCAD continued their offensive onslaught, registering nine shots, with Gomez's goal reflecting their relentless pursuit. College of Idaho struggled to create significant scoring chances, managing only two shots in the second period.
