HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - The No. 13 SCAD Savannah women's soccer team claimed The Sun Conference Championship with a decisive 5-2 victory over No. 2 Keiser University on Thursday evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
RECORDS: SCAD Savannah improves to 15-1-2 while Keiser falls to 14-1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Sydney Chura opening the scoring in the third minute off an assist from Lucabella Ralph. After Keiser equalized in the 16th minute, SCAD responded immediately through Chura's second goal just a minute later, assisted by goalkeeper Saga Bryntesson.
Ines Sommer then took control of the match, netting twice - in the 30th and 40th minutes - to extend SCAD's lead. Abigail Siddall added a fifth goal just before halftime. Keiser managed to pull one back through Alicia Rey's penalty kick in the 62nd minute but couldn't overcome the deficit.
SCAD demonstrated their offensive superiority throughout the match, outshooting Keiser 23-14, while earning four corner kicks to Keiser's none.
