HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - The No. 13 SCAD women's soccer team put on a commanding performance in their Sun Conference Semifinal match, defeating Ave Maria University 5-1 on Monday evening.
RECORDS: The Bees improve to 14-1-2 (SUN 7-0-1) while Ave Maria concludes their season at 7-5-4 (SUN 3-2-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD took control early with Ida Akesson opening the scoring in the 8th minute with an unassisted goal. Abigail Siddall doubled the lead in the 31st minute off an assist from Akesson.
The Bees continued their dominance in the second half, with Siddall completing her brace in the 50th minute from Sydney Chura's assist. Sam Wong extended the lead to 4-0 in the 52nd minute, connecting with Emily Lau's setup. Ave Maria got one back through Kana Mateaki in the 86th minute, but Mia Gomez restored the four-goal advantage with a late strike assisted by Ella Augustsson.
SCAD demonstrated their offensive prowess throughout the match, outshooting Ave Maria 30-9, while earning five corner kicks.
