Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 12 SCAD women's tennis team opened the season on Friday and Saturday, winning 8-1 against the State College of Florida and then falling 4-3 to Hillsborough Community College.
 
RECORD: The Bees are now 1-1 to open the season.
 
VS. STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA: SCAD started strong, winning all three doubles spots. Piccoliori/Puig Llompart won 8-5 at number one doubles. Ragona/Sukkanha won 8-2 at number two doubles, while Konrad/Morera Lucas won 8-2 at number three doubles.
 
Priya Sukkanha won 6-0, 6-0 at number two singles while Cherry Xiang won 6-3, 6-1 at number three singles. In the number four singles position, Sofia Ragona won 6-3, 6-3, and Laura Morera Lucas won 6-1, 6-2 at number five singles. In the number six singles position, Mariia Petrova won 6-0, 6-0. Alessia Piccoliori fought hard and lost 7-6 (4), 6-7 (4), 10-7 at number one singles.
 
VS. HILLSBOROUGH CC: Ragona/Sukkanha won 9-7 at number two doubles, but it was not enough as Hillsborough won both numbers one and three doubles, earning the doubles point.
 
Alessia Piccoliori won 6-4, 6-4 at number one singles, while Priya Sukkanha won 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 at number two singles. Lisa Konrad won 7-5, 6-0 at number six singles.
