HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 17 SCAD women's soccer team continues to dominate as the Bees record their third-straight shutout, defeating No. RV Georgia Gwinnett College 3-0 at home on Monday.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 4-0-0 while the Grizzlies are 2-1-1 overall.
DID YOU KNOW? This is the first time in recent history in which SCAD has gone 4-0 to open the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Berglind Baldursdottir got the ball rolling early for the Bees scoring from a free position shot about 30 yards out into the top left 90 of the goal to give SCAD a 1-0 lead.
Abigail Siddall made it a two-goal game when she took a through pass from
Sydney Chura and
Sam Wong to find the back of the net not even four minutes later.
Neither team scored until the 85
th minute when Baldursdottir scored from a corner kick to ultimately give the Bees the 3-0 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: SCAD out-shot Georgia Gwinnett 28-15 with 12 of their shots going on goal.
Goalie
Katelynn Balsiger nabbed a career-high nine saves in her 90 minutes of work to earn the win.
Baldursdottir led the offense with two goals while Siddall totaled one goal. Wong and Chura added one assist each.
