MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The No. 8 SCAD women's soccer team picked up its tenth win of the season with its eighth shutout, defeating Florida Memorial 4-0 on Saturday.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 10-0-0, 6-0-0 SUN while the Lions are 2-6-2, 0-6-0 SUN.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The first goal of the game came at 10:31 mark when
Abigail Siddall got the ball to
Sydney Chura who took it through the defenders and chipped a shot over the goalkeeper off her line from about 20 yards out to give SCAD a 1-0 lead.
Not even five minutes later, the Bees scored again. This time
Tahlia Herman-Watt sent the ball up the right side of the field to
Ines Sommer who sent it on to
Abigail Siddall. Siddall put her shot to the left of the goalie to find the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game.
Alyssa Smith, one touched a throw-in to
Hannah Burchfield who also one touched it past the oncoming goalie to go up 3-0 in the 32
nd minute.
The clock ran down to the half, giving SCAD a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
The last goal of the game came in the 86
th minute when
Ines Sommer dodged her defenders and passed the ball to
Ella Augustsson breaking on the left side of the field. Augustsson sent the ball over the goalkeeper's head to give the Bees a 4-0 lead, and ultimately the 4-0 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: The Bees' defense held the Lions to seven shots, four on goal and zero corker kicks.
Abigail Siddall led the offense with one goal and one assist while
Sydney Chura,
Hannah Burchfield and Ells Augustsson totaled one goal each.
Ines Sommer tallied two assists while
Tahlia Herman-Watt and
Alyssa Smith had one.
Goalies
Katelynn Balsiger and
Zoe Goodale split time in the goal with both totaling two saves each.
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees return home to host No. 14 Southeastern on Wednesday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. for Pride Night. Shuttles will be provided for SCAD students and there will be a food truck in attendance.
