No. 7 SCAD Women’s Soccer Hosts No. 13 Southeastern, Remains Undefeated with Win

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 7 SCAD women's soccer team remains perfect on the season with its 3-2 win over visiting No. 13 Southeastern University on Wednesday night.

RECORDS: The Bees are now 11-0-0, 7-0-0 SUN, while the Fire are now 5-3-1, 5-1-1 SUN.

DID YOU KNOW? This is the seventh NAIA Top 25 or receiving votes team SCAD has defeated and the second Top-15 team thus far this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees scored the first goal of the game in the 40th minute. Abigail Siddall brought the ball down the middle of the field and then sent it out to the right to Ines Sommer. Sommer crosses the ball into the box to a waiting Sydney Chura in the middle/right of the box, who found the back of the net with a shot that sneaks past the goalie, close to the right post to give SCAD a 1-0 lead.

Neither team scored for the remainder of the half as the Bees went into halftime up 1-0.

Southeastern tied the game at 1-1 at the 55:16 mark, but SCAD answered with their own goal a minute later to take the one-goal lead (2-1). Berglind Baldursdottir sent the ball up the center of the field from the midline to Sydney Chura, who scored her second goal of the game when she beat her defender on the left side and then sent the ball to the bottom right of the goal past the goalie.

In the 68th minute, the Bees scored an insurance goal when Abbie Biddle won the ball in the middle of the field. Biddle sent the ball up the field to Sydney Chura, who sent it back to a waiting Abigail Siddall. Siddall sends a rocket over the goalie from about 30 yards out to take a 3-1 lead.

With 40 seconds remaining on the clock, the Fire scored one more goal to come within one, but it would not be enough as SCAD held on to win 3-2.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Sydney Chura led the offensive charge, having a part in all three goals, scoring two and assisting on the third for a game-high five points.
