HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 7 SCAD women's soccer team opened the second half of Sun Conference action with a dominant 7-2 win over Warner University to remain undefeated.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 12-0-0, 8-0-0 SUN, while the Royals are now 4-5-2, 1-5-2 SUN.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Bees opened the scoring when
Ines Sommer found the back of the net at the 3:46 mark.
Abbie Biddle won the defensive ball and sent it up the field to
Sydney Chura who settled it and then found a breaking Sommer who put it past the goalie to give the Bees a 1-0 lead.
Fifteen minutes later SCAD doubled their lead when
Abigail Siddall sent the ball through the middle
Sydney Chura on a fast break up the left. Chura went one on one with the goalie and was able to score in the bottom right of the goal.
Warner answered with a goal of their own in the 26
th minute to come within one (2-1).
Not even a minute later, the Bees made it a 3-1 game when
Sam Wong took the ball off a throw-in and sent it to
Tahlia Herman-Watt in the middle of the field. Herman-Watt quickly passed the ball to
Ines Sommer who got the ball to
Mia Gomez who was able to sneak the ball past the goalie to score her first goal of the season.
The last goal of the half came from
Abigail Siddall when she beat her defenders off a pass from
Mia Gomez to find the back of the net and give SCAD a 4-1 lead going into halftime.
Back-to-back goals from
Lane Lieberman and
Sydney Chura in the 61
st minute gave the Bees a 6-1 lead.
Lieberman's goal started with a corner kick from
Abbie Biddle.
Abigail Siddall headed the ball to Lieberman who was able to put it past the goalie to go up 5-1.
Ines Sommer took a shot and the goalie saved it but Sommer stuck with it and got the ball over to Chura who put it home to make 6-1.
The last goal for SCAD came from
Mia Gomez who found the back of the net off an assist from
Phoebe Peters.
Warner scored the last goal of the game to make it 7-2 in favor of the Bees.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: SCAD totaled 30 shots, 20 of which were on goal while holding the Royals to only nine shots, six on goal.
Sydney Chura and
Mia Gomez totaled two goals each while
Abigail Siddall,
Lane Lieberman, and
Ines Sommer tallied one goal. Siddall and Sommer had two assists while
Tahlia Herman-Watt,
Abbie Biddle, Chura and
Phoebe Peters had one.
Goalie
Katelynn Balsiger totaled four saves in her 90 minutes of work.
