No. 8 Women’s Soccer Makes it 9-0 with Win at No. 25 St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The No. 8 SCAD women's soccer team remains undefeated with a 2-0 win at No. 25 St. Thomas University.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 9-0-0, 5-0-0 SUN while St. Thomas is now 5-1-2, 2-1-2 SUN.
 
DID YOU KNOW? This is the seventh shutout of the season for SCAD.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Despite a fast-paced game making it difficult for the Bees to get a foothold, SCAD got the job done to remain unbeaten on the season.
 
The first goal found Abigail Siddall in the box who touched the ball into an on-running Ines Sommer who found the back of the net as the keeper stepped off her line to go up 1-0 in the 24th minute.
 
Neither team scored for the remainder of the half as SCAD went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
 
Ines Sommer controlled the ball, running into the box, where she was fouled before getting her shot off, setting the Bees up for a penalty kick.
 
Lane Lieberman scored the last goal of the game off the penalty kick at the 70:53 mark to give the Bees the 2-0 lead, and ultimately the 2-0 win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Goalie Katelynn Balsiger totaled a game-high 10 saves in her 90 minutes of work.
 
SCAD totaled eight shots, six on goal, with Ines Sommer and Lane Lieberman adding one goal each and Abigail Siddall tallying one assist.
 
Ines Sommer totaled two shots on goal while Abigail Siddall, Jule Stendebach, Sydney Chura, and Lane Lieberman totaled one shot on goal.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees remain in Florida to face Florida Memorial University on Saturday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m.
